A Gift from God
So, Erik and I got to visit our daughter twice today. It was so wonderful. Erik missed his little girl. Thankfully he is feeling much better. It’s really hard to not have your child at home with you and then even harder when you can’t go se them. Read the rest of this entry »
On Friday night I felt a bit of a sore throat coming on as I was going to sleep. Unfortunately the next morning upon waking up I had no voice. My throat was sore and I could feel that it was a hair swollen. I probably went 3 or 4 hours miming my words to Nikkie. That aspect of it was actually quite humorous (to me at least). The really crappy part about being sick right now is that I am unable to see my little girl. Read the rest of this entry »
Yesterday was long. I have a incision that’s not healing well, and I am tired. This whole hospital thing is wearing me out already, but I keep going. It’s what I have to do for my baby. Although it was a long tiring day it was full of family which is always nice.
Pretty much all of my family has now seen Brady. My cousin Kayla drove me up to the hospital yesterday and it was the first time she was able to see Brady. I love to see everyone’s reactions. It borders on disbelief and awe at her size. Pictures don’t really give you an idea of how small she actually is. My Aunt Gayle met us up there and she got to spend some time with Brady as well. This was the first time I went yesterday. Read the rest of this entry »
Yesterday our daughter turned one week old. I know I know – one week isn’t long. It has still flown by considering all of the things that have happened. For a little birthday gift they were able to take off the blue light (which helps prevent jaundice) and they took her off of her oxygen supply. This is quite amazing considering her size and age! There is no doubt how she’s able to do these remarkable things.

Yesterday was another good day. Again, the nurses tell us she is doing wonderful for her size. Erik and I went up there and sat just looking at her for about an hour. You would think you would get bored, but just to look at her little tiny back ( they keep her on her tummy a lot) rising and falling from breathing is a miracle in itself b/c she is doing so well on her own. I think they are keeping the vaportherm on her more as a precaution than anything b/c they keep telling us how wonderful she is doing with her breathing. Read the rest of this entry »
Hey guys. I just wanted to write a post about a few easy ways to follow this blog. I know a number of you are just coming here occasionally just to see if there is an update or a new entry. There is an easier way to stay updated if you don’t enjoy doing that over and over. Read the rest of this entry »
Today marks 5 days since my Brady entered the world. It seems like it’s going by so slow yet so fast. Erik and I went to to hospital today to visit our little girl for the first time since leaving the hospital. Yesterday it was just too much for me to get out of the house. Recovering from major surgery pretty much stinks. Today was a great day. I got to share Brady with my friend Abby and that was wonderful. I already love showing off my little girl. We got some really good news today. When Abby and I walked up the incubator was up and this nurse had a huge machine next to the bed. It freaked me out at first, but the nurse was quick to tell me that she was doing the ultrasound on Brady’s heart to check for the hole. The good news, it’s not there. The medicine worked and it closed up just like they wanted it to. Read the rest of this entry »
So, my darling little one entered the world just a tad bit early this week. It’s been an amazing and terrifying experience. Amazing, b/c she made it and terrifying b/c things like this aren’t supposed to happen to you and when they do your whole world turns up-side down. My baby girl is doing as well as can be expected. Like most preemies she has a small hole in her heart that they are giving her medicine to close and they had to stop feeding her formula due to a stomach problem, but they are going to try to start feeding her again tonight or tomorrow hopefully with the milk I have been pumping which has all the good stuff she needs and hopefully easier for her stomach to digest than the first stuff they gave her. She’s such a fighter and I love that about her. It seems like she has such a will to be here. Read the rest of this entry »

Hey guys. It’s Saturday evening and my wife and I decided to start a blog for our new baby girl Brady. I guess that makes this Brady’s first blog. For those of you who aren’t aware of what’s gone on in our lives in the past 5 days head over to the About Brady page to learn more.
We will be posting updates on the status and health of our little girl to keep friends and family informed. It was quite amazing to see how many people love us and cared to know how we were doing in the first 2 days. Due to these numbers we figured we could save on cell phone minutes and repetitive talk and get the juicy details out on our blog. We’re looking forward to updating everyone. Comments are not only welcome but may even help us along the way. Thanks!
Brady Faith was brought into this world 12 weeks premature. This was a result of mommy having pre-eclampsia and there being a reverse blood flow to/from the placenta. Brady wasn't growing like she should and it would have just gotten worse. She weighed 1lb 7oz and was 11 3/4in long. To learn more about Brady and her family click here.
