I promised to write a blog today on Brady’s condition so here I am. Brady is doing better. They continue to wean her off of the vapotherm so hopefully she will be off of it soon, although she did have one episode tonight of low oxygen. So back to Brady’s issue. Read the rest of this entry »

I will write a more in depth blog tomorrow, but I wanted to let everyone know that Brady is doing better. She was moved back to the critical section of the NICN due to something she is on called vapotherm. They will wean her off that and she will be able to go back to the intermediate section. Brady seems to be responding to her meds and I am thankful she is doing better. It’s been a long 2 days and I am glad they are over and Erik and I can sleep a little better. Anyway, I’ll get into more detail tomorrow when I am not about to fall off my stool.  Thank you for your prayers. They are felt!

Tonight Nikkie and I went to check on our little girl and the news wasn’t good. She’s actually gone in reverse and gotten a bit worse. As you may know she’s been having some episodes of apnea and bradycardia due to issues breathing. She was put on oxygen yesterday to help her get going with that. Today they had to increase that supply a bit because it’s gotten worse. This afternoon I noticed a big red area on her left shoulder blade and was confused as to what it may be. It was looked at by some nurses and doctors and they decided to run some labs just to be sure it wasn’t something bad. It turns out it may be just that…something bad. Read the rest of this entry »

Please pray for Brady. She will be having a blood transfusion today. Hopefully this will help her and she’ll be back to where she supposed to be sooner rather than later.

Yesterday was such a good day with Brady. I went for the first time at lunch and got to put one of her little outfits from her aunt Kayla on. It’s about 3 sizes too big, but she sure did look cute! My friend Abby got to come by and visit. We agreed that Brady looked like a turtle the way she was all wrapped up with her little head poking out. My cousin Kasey also got to visit, which was wonderful. I love sharing Brady which is why it’s going to be so hard not to when she leaves. Read the rest of this entry »

I called the NICN at 8 this morning to check on Brady. Her episode last night left me scared. She had a few more decets last night, but most of them were self correcting, which means she didn’t need any stimulating to get her levels higher. I think I forgot to mention on my previous post that if she continues to have trouble they will put her back on oxygen, which they haven’t done yet and hopefully they won’t have to. The past 2 days with Brady have been great. A big reason is because I didn’t see her for two days because I wasn’t feeling well. I’m better now and have spent quite a bit of time with Brady the past 2 days. Read the rest of this entry »

I got to hold my little girl again tonight and attempt to bottle feed her! It was pretty uneventful since she has no clue why I’m sticking something in her mouth right now. But hopefully the little light inside will go off and she’ll know what’s going on. I can’t wait until she’s really eating from a bottle! There was one eventful item this evening. My little girl decided it was time to start ‘breaking me in’ for fatherhood and she decided to pee on me while I was holding her. So that means that so far she’s spit up a little on Daddy while being held and peed on Daddy while being held. Nothing with Mommy though – but her time will come!

Yesterday I went up to visit my little one and received some rather great news. Once there is a space available Brady will be moved from her current location to the ‘intermediate’ area of the NICN. This is excellent news for obvious reasons. More good news is that the nurses will be trying to feed Brady by bottle once a day now. Today she did great – minus the drinking the milk part. Apparently she just sat there with the bottle in her mouth and didn’t suck. Hopefully she’ll take to it soon and we can start doing it more and more often. I’m so excited to have my little girl growing more and more.
