The title of my blog today come from the song “Not Afraid” by Stephanie Smith. This song has absolutely nothing to do with our experiences in the NICN other than at one point it’s says,”But he is with me, And I am not alone”. In the song she is speaking of God, and it’s the same in my life. Read the rest of this entry »

So, it’s been a few days since Erik and I really wrote a blog on here. Sometimes life and just being tired gets in the way. I have come to the realization that if I don’t write the day it happens i forget, so here I am. Read the rest of this entry »

AAHHHHHH!

30 Jul 2008 In: General

AAHHHHHH!, originally uploaded by thereagans.

Tonight we spent about an hour and a half with Brady. Most of the time was spent with the isolate top lifted so we had a lot of time to interact. The nurses were quite busy and there were a lot of people around our little area so we weren’t able to hold her tonight. We did, however, get some good photos. We got this shot while we were visiting and I couldn’t resist putting it on the blog. I caught Brady in a yawn and it turned out like this. I can think of quite a few funny captions to put under this one. What does it make you think of?

More pictures from tonight will be on the way tomorrow. Stay tuned! :)

Wonderful Day

29 Jul 2008 In: General

I got to hold my baby today!!!! It was so special and as long as she continues to do well I get to hold her everyday. Her leg isn’t swollen anymore, but her arm and hand are still a little puffy. She was doing better with her heart rate, but was still having a few decelerations, but the nurses keep telling me that it is normal for a preemie to do that. It’s still scary when the monitor starts flashing. Read the rest of this entry »

yet another day in the NICU

28 Jul 2008 In: General

So, Erik and I got to visit our daughter twice today. It was so wonderful. Erik missed his little girl. Thankfully he is feeling much better. It’s really hard to not have your child at home with you and then even harder when you can’t go se them. Read the rest of this entry »

Can’t See My Little Girl

27 Jul 2008 In: General

On Friday night I felt a bit of a sore throat coming on as I was going to sleep. Unfortunately the next morning upon waking up I had no voice. My throat was sore and I could feel that it was a hair swollen. I probably went 3 or 4 hours miming my words to Nikkie. That aspect of it was actually quite humorous (to me at least). The really crappy part about being sick right now is that I am unable to see my little girl. Read the rest of this entry »

oh what a day

25 Jul 2008 In: General

Yesterday was long. I have a incision that’s not healing well, and I am tired. This whole hospital thing is wearing me out already, but I keep going. It’s what I have to do for my baby. Although it was a long tiring day it was full of family which is always nice.

Pretty much all of my family has now seen Brady. My cousin Kayla drove me up to the hospital yesterday and it was the first time she was able to see Brady. I love to see everyone’s reactions. It borders on disbelief and awe at her size. Pictures don’t really give you an idea of how small she actually is. My Aunt Gayle met us up there and she got to spend some time with Brady as well. This was the first time I went yesterday. Read the rest of this entry »

One Week Old

23 Jul 2008 In: General

Yesterday our daughter turned one week old. I know I know - one week isn’t long. It has still flown by considering all of the things that have happened. For a little birthday gift they were able to take off the blue light (which helps prevent jaundice) and they took her off of her oxygen supply. This is quite amazing considering her size and age! There is no doubt how she’s able to do these remarkable things.

More good news

23 Jul 2008 In: General

Yesterday was another good day. Again, the nurses tell us she is doing wonderful for her size. Erik and I went up there and sat just looking at her for about an hour. You would think you would get bored, but just to look at her little tiny back ( they keep her on her tummy a lot) rising and falling from breathing is a miracle in itself b/c she is doing so well on her own. I think they are keeping the vaportherm on her more as a precaution than anything b/c they keep telling us how wonderful she is doing with her breathing. Read the rest of this entry »
